Breast Lift with Augmentation

mh-breastWomen in Orange County frequently seek out the expertise of a breast lift plastic surgeon after having children, experiencing significant weight loss or when the aging process starts to negatively impact the appearance of their breasts. Drooping breasts can a take a toll on a woman’s self esteem and can cause changes in what they are able to comfortably wear without feeling self-conscious about their body. Breast lift surgery is a rewarding procedure that can drastically change the way a woman feels about herself and can improve her relationship with her significant other.

3 Common Breast Lift Incisions

Frequently in Orange County, plastic surgeons will typically use one of the 3 most common breast lift incisions (donut breast lift, lollipop breast lift and anchor breast lift). The incision is determined by the position of the areola on the chest. Breasts with mild laxity or “droop” may only need a donut lift, while severe cases of laxity will require an anchor lift. Re-positioning the breasts through breast lift surgery will improve upper fullness, create more attractive cleavage, provide better nipple placement, and a perkier appearance.  This can dramatically improve self-esteem and allows women more latitude with their clothing choices.

While results of a traditional breast lift are rewarding, Joseph T Cruise, MD of Cruise Plastic Surgery in Orange County, was never quite satisfied. Over time the breast tissue that was lifted would succumb to gravity and end up sagging as before. Patients would be left contemplating about whether or not to have a second surgery to correct the problem yet again. Joseph T Cruise, MD also noticed with a traditional breast lift the shape of the lower part of the breast was never round like that of a youthful breast, nor was the upper fullness improved as much as he would have liked.  He felt strongly that the breasts could be improved beyond the scope of what the status quo breast lift could do. After analyzing his prior cases, he decided the breast tissue that hangs below the breast will never be attractive and will always lose the fight against gravity and return to a sagging position.

Dr. Cruises’ Solution

Joseph T Cruise, MD came up with a solution for maximizing the results from breast lift surgery. His current technique is to remove the breast tissue that sags below the level of the breast fold and gather the breast tissue inward from the outer sides. This eliminates the “hanging” appearance and creates a round shape that is seen in youthful breasts. Once all of the necessary breast tissue is removed and the remaining tissue is correctly positioned, Joseph T Cruise, MD will often times add a breast implant to restore upper breast fullness and improve cleavage. Another benefit of this technique is the ability to reduce the length of the incision keeping it away from the midline or the outer sides of the breast. The horizontal incision is hidden beneath the breast fold, which allows women to wear bikinis and low cut dresses or tops without worrying about their scars being visible to others. Lastly, with the removal of sagging breast tissue and the addition of a breast implant, patients can enjoy long lasting results from a breast lift with augmentation unlike with the standard breast lift.

Not every patient is the same, nor are the goals they want to achieve through breast lift surgery. The breast lift consultation provides the opportunity to determine the breast lift technique most suitable for each individual patient.
