Patient Details
This 58-year-old patient underwent a neck lift with midline plication, facelift, temple lift, and lower eyelid surgery, performed by Dr. Joseph Cruise at his Newport Beach practice.
Her before photos show the changes that bring most neck lift patients to consultation: vertical banding and loose skin beneath the chin, a softened jawline, and a neck angle that had gradually disappeared. By the late 50s, these changes usually involve more than skin. The platysma muscle, which forms the front of the neck, separates in the midline over time, creating the cords and fullness that skin tightening alone cannot correct.
That is why Dr. Cruise performed a midline plication: suturing the separated edges of the platysma back together in the midline to rebuild a firm, smooth foundation under the chin. The neck lift then removes the excess skin over this repaired base, which is what creates the deep, crisp neck angle you see in her profile views — and helps it last. The facelift and temple lift restored her jawline and softened the descent around her eyes and cheeks, while lower eyelid surgery refreshed the area that loose neck skin often draws attention to.
The result is a dramatically restored neckline that still looks entirely natural and moves normally.
If neck banding, loose skin under the chin, or a fading jawline is what bothers you most, a consultation at our Newport Beach office will determine whether your neck needs skin tightening alone or a deeper repair like midline plication for the best long-term result.
