Overview of Lip Augmentation
Recently, lower facial rejuvenation procedures such as lip augmentation (also called lip enhancement) have become increasingly popular because people realize that full, ideal lips are obtainable without much downtime, anesthesia, complications, or scarring. In the past, plastic surgeons used a variety of materials to enhance the shape of patients’ lips, the current major advancement is using hyaluronic acid. With brand hyaluronic acids such as Restylane® and Juvéderm® Dr. Cruise is able to provide patients the best results for voluptuous lips that address all of their concerns.
Getting the Best Lip Augmentation Results
In 2003, the FDA approved hyaluronic acid to treat wrinkles on the face. Dr. Cruise uses it to treat wrinkles around the nose, mouth, and eyes, and also is a proponent of using hyaluronic acid for some of the best lip augmentation results.
Prior to 2003, collagen was the main substance used for lip enhancement. However, collagen naturally breaks down after approximately 3 months, and patients were looking for more lasting, more natural results. Now, hyaluronic acid allows patients to achieve the look they want for about twice as long.
Newport Beach plastic surgeon, Dr. Cruise, uses Cosmoderm® collagen for treating fine wrinkles, but finds that hyaluronic acid brands such as Restylane®, Vaderme®, and Juvéderm® provide patients fuller, more targeted, more natural lip augmentation results. Before and after lip augmentation pictures show what hyaluronic acid can do to enhance the shape of a patient’s mouth and provide full, youthful, ideal lips.
At the consultation with each patient in his Orange County, CA, office, Dr. Cruise discusses all lip augmentation and lower face rejuvenation options. First, he wants to know what each patient wants to change about their face, and what results they are looking to achieve. Because each face is different, Dr. Cruise believes in customizing every person’s approach to facial rejuvenation, therefore he performs a comprehensive exam on each patient to determine the best procedures to obtain the results. As a team, you and Dr. Cruise will decide together if lip augmentation is the right choice for you.
