For women considering breast augmentation, it often comes as a surprise that breast implant manufacturers offer warranties on  their implants. Knowing this information can provide a sense of comfort and relief during the decision making process.

Here is an overview of the warranty information for the two leading breast implant manufacturers, Allergan and Mentor.

Allergan Natrelle® Implant Warranty

Implants Covered Under Warranty:

Natrelle® Saline and Silicone breast implants listed below and implanted in the United States on or after November 1, 2014 are eligible for coverage under the Allergan ConfidencePlus® warranty.

Natrelle INSPIRA® Round Gel Breast Implants Natrelle® 410 Highly Cohesive Anatomically Shaped Silicone-Filled Breast Implants Natrelle® Classic Round Gel Breast Implants Natrelle® Saline-Filled Breast Implants

Natrelle Silicone Gel Implant Warranty: Confidence Plus® Warranty

• Automatically enrolled at no cost
• FREE implant replacement for 10 years in the event of capsular contracture (Baker Grade III/IV)
• Lifetime product replacement in the event of implant rupture or deflation
• Financial assistance up to $3500 for 10 years in the event of a rupture

Natrelle Saline Filled Implant Warranty: Confidence Standard Warranty

• Automatically enrolled at no cost
• Lifetime product replacement in the event of an implant rupture or deflation

*Patients can upgrade to the Confidence Plus Warranty within 45 days of surgery for a fee of $200* Upgrade includes up to $2400 financial assistance in the event of a rupture/deflation up to 10 years.

About the Lifetime product warranty for both saline and silicone implants –

Automatically applies to all patients implanted with certain Natrelle® style saline- and silicone-filled breast implant products (see list above)

Regardless of the age of the implant, Allergan provides product replacement in the event of a deflation or rupture due to loss of shell integrity

At the request of your surgeon, any Natrelle® style* breast implant may be selected to replace your current Natrelle® style breast implant (replacement implant must be of a comparable size)

Mentor® Breast Implant Warranty Program

All Mentor® saline filled implants implanted in the United States or Puerto Rico after May 1, 2005 are covered.

Mentor® Saline Filled Implant Warranty: Standard Advantage 

• Automatically enrolled free of charge
• Lifetime product replacement for rupture/deflation at no additional charge unless new implant is a different style which costs more than the original implant.
• Coverage up to 10 years with up to $1200 financial assistance towards operating room, anesthesia, and surgical charges not covered by insurance
• Free contralateral replacement (no-deflated side) if recommended by your surgeon

 Enhanced Saline Warranty 

Can be purchased for a fee of $100 within 45 days of surgery. Includes all of the benefits listed above, but the financial assistance increases to $2400.

Mentor Silicone Gel Implant Warranty (includes Shaped): Standard

• Automatically enrolled free of charge
• Free lifetime product replacement (some restrictions apply)
• Up to $3500 financial assistance for a rupture only – to be used towards operating room, anesthesia, and surgical cost not covered by insurance
• Contralateral replacement allowed
• 3 year warranty for capsular contracture (Baker III/IV), double capsule, late forming seroma (>12 months)
• Patients can upgrade to Mentor’s Enhanced Warranty plan for a fee of $200. Must be purchased within 45 days of surgery.

Enhanced Silicone Warranty

Everything included above, but warranty is for 10 years instead of 3 years and there is up to $3500 financial assistance for capsular contracture, double capsule, late forming seroma.
