While you may not think about it, it is important to wear sunscreen, even in the winter! “Sunscreen should be used daily and reapplied during the day,” said Joseph T Cruise, MD. “The sun in the winter is just as damaging as it is in the summer. Use sunscreen every day to protect the skin from potential damage.”

Avoid Hot Showers in the Winter

Hot showers may feel great during the winter, but it could be doing more harm than good. “Use warm water instead of hot water when taking a shower, as hot water can be quite damaging to the skin,” says Joseph T Cruise, MD. “Hot water can dry out the skin and strip it from its natural oils.”

Use Calming Face Masks in the Summer

Too much time in the sun can lead to angry skin. “Use a calming mask that can be stored in the fridge as it delivers de-puffing and anti-redness benefits while hydrating the skin,” says Joseph T Cruise, MD. “Calming masks can also be used on overheated and sunburned skin as well.”
