Otoplasty or ear pinning is a cosmetic procedure to improve protruding ears. Whether the issue is mild or severe, if it bothers you, it may be worth correcting. While ear pinning is most commonly performed on children, Joseph T Cruise, MD treats many male adults who have been embarrassed with their ears since childhood.
The procedure is quite straightforward and is typically performed in-office under local anesthesia. The amount of correction you desire will be discussed during the consultation process.
Recovery
General recovery time is 2-3 days. The ears will be swollen, red/bruised, with sutures behind them.
Strenuous activity, contact sports will need to be avoided for 1 to 2 months.
