Gynecomastia Recovery Time

Recovery from Male Breast Reduction / Gynecomastia Correction

Some people with sedentary jobs go back to work after 3 days. If your job, however, requires a lot of aggressive arm movements it may take as long as 2 weeks to return to work. Most people return to work in about 1 week.

Driving is usually possible after 3 days, taking into consideration that you feel comfortable and haven’t taken any medications that can impede clear thinking (i.e. Vicodin, Darvocet, Xanax). It is recommended to first drive a short distance to test out your ability to drive.

Regarding workouts, it may take 6-10 weeks to return to your full workout regiment. It is recommended to go on brisk walks shortly after the surgery. You can go back to the gym and use the stationary bike at about day 5. Lower body workouts can be resumed at about day 7.

With arm workouts, it is best to start with biceps, simply because they don’t directly affect your chest. For bench presses and chest exercises, it is best to wait for about 3 months.

You can discuss details of your ability to return to daily activities during your follow up appointments with Joseph T Cruise, MD.

Testimonial

I wanted to take this opportunity to say how pleased I was with my gynecomastia reduction procedure performed by Dr. Joseph T. Cruise located in Newport Beach Ca. From start to finish it was fantastic, Joseph T Cruise, MD has a great rapport with his patients and does fabulous work. It’s only been 10 days since my procedure and it already looks great, perfect job on his part. I had no pain whatsoever and just saw him today for follow up and suture removal, and he said I could already start some aerobic exercise again even at this point as my healing is on an accelerated pace. For anyone considering this surgery I highly recommend Joseph T Cruise, MD in Newport Beach, he is the best!!
