FACE LIFT PROCEDURE INFORMATION

Helpful Face Lift Information

It is important for you to familiarize yourself with the common terminology, cost and procedure overview prior to consultation.  This will allow you to ask your surgeon detailed questions regarding your Face Lift surgical journey.

Face Lift Recovery

It is very helpful to understand the recovery time after having a face lift so you can plan accordingly with taking time off work, planning vacations or social events, etc.  In the initial recovery period, you can expect to experience some bruising, swelling , and tenderness. You may have the appearance of a "black eye" as the bruises can extend to the eye area.

Realistic Expectations and Goals

Before committing to face lift surgery, honestly assess your reasons for choosing to have surgery. What do you hope to change and why? Are you having surgery for yourself or are you doing it to make someone else happy? Will you be able to adjust to your new look? What are your expectations, and are they realistic given your current situation? If your expectations and desired goals are realistic, you're on your way to an optimal experience.

Common techniques

Face Lift Options

There are many options available today for Facial Rejuvenation.  These types target different problems in a person's face and are performed depending on a patient's individual needs.  Both men and women are enjoying the benefits of facial surgery.  Some target the forehead area, while others target the cheeks and neck and mini face lifts are also an option.   Watch this video to gain a deeper understanding of a customized a Face Lift.

Male vs. Female Face Lift Options

One of the key differences in a male and female face lift is the location of the scars. A face lift procedure on a man is similar to that performed on a woman, but it does involve several techniques to optimize the results for a male patient. Because men tend to wear their hair shorter than women (who can hide the scars in the hairline) and because men have facial hair that requires shaving, hiding face lift scars is more challenging.  The surgical technique used should be customized to address the aging changes of either gender.  Watch this informative video on the challenges of the male face lift.

Face Lift Surgical Process

The face lift surgery is an intricate surgery performed under general anesthesia.  It typically takes several hours in surgery and then a few hours in recovery.  An incision is made starting at temple section of the hairline and continues around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat may be sculpted or redistributed, the tissue is repositioned, and the deeper layers of the face and the muscles are also lifted. Skin is repositioned over the contours and any excess skin is trimmed away. Watch this video to better understand how a face lift is performed.
